Educate your audience for long term results

When it comes to e-learning there are two vital metrics to look at. Did the viewer learn what you wanted them to, and will it stick with them for the long term? Everything else is secondary. Fortunately, when deployed correctly, interactive e-learning videos are proven to excel at both these metrics. By actively encouraging viewers to participate in the learning process, we saw a huge increase in watch rate and video completion when tested against linear videos.

And this is exactly what the United Nations did. When training their staff on housing and land rights, they put their participants into a scenario training “Game”. Viewers could explore different choices, make decisions and see the outcomes of their decisions within the simulated experience.

Crew Room used interactive quizzes in their videos to teach young people the foundations of each role within the TV industry. Each video covers one role, and the viewers can learn about the expected responsibilities, meet someone in that role, or take a quiz. Check out the Camera Operator video on the left hand side.

But it’s not just e-learning videos…we also create impactful e-learnings that fit perfectly within your existing LMS. This content is more traditional e-learning style, and can capture all your participant’s data neatly with SCORM files. Just check out our example with the Amsterdam municipality, where we teach how to use their internal software. These e-learnings are a great way of communicating important information, in a bitesize-gamified way.

In-Video E-learning Examples:

To make your e-learning experience fun and engaging, we’re able to incorporate some exciting games within the modules. Check out some of our examples below:

Spot the difference

The classic game where viewers have to spot the difference between two images. Or, like in this example from crew room, the viewer’s have to identify the mistakes in the image. We can also create where’s-wally (Waldo) style games based on this same game-type.

Quizzes

Quizzes are an effective way to gamify someone’s learning experience. For example, Big Green Egg encouraged their resellers to complete this quiz when watching a brief product history video.

Simulator

We’ve all had at least one try at guitar hero or dance mat, and this concept is much the same. Click the right button at the right time to earn points – give it a go!

Match the sound

Check out this example of an in-video game created by Crew Room. Their users have to match up the correct sound with the visual.

Line up the shot

Another great example from Crew Room, this time viewers have to line up the perfect camera shot.

Simon Says / Correct Order

Not only did Big Green Egg include small quizzes in their e-learning video for their resellers, but they also put their knowledge to their test in a memory game. In this video, viewers had to remember the correct order to build the egg.

Scenario Training

As shown earlier, IOM created multiple modules that put their participants into specific scenarios where they needed to problem solve and find solutions. By meeting characters, unlocking information and taking notes, viewers have to use what they found along their investigation to inform their decision-making.
